FOLLOW ‘22/23

THE RICH, THE POOR, AND THE HIPSTER, 2023.

FOLLOW is a personal coaching program for budding artists. For this year’s edition, they looked at ambitious plans for local and socially engaged projects located in different parts of Amsterdam. For this extended themed edition, seven image makers were each given a working budget and the assignment to create a new series that reflects on the Amsterdam district where they live, work, grew up, or with which they are connected in some special way.

In this series, Iñigo Viu Huguet portrays the beauty of the locations that people of various economic levels frequent in a gentrifying neighborhood, Amsterdam North. This is done so through the eyes of someone who has lived and worked there for the last seven years. It's a visual narrative that attempts to bring together the coexistence of tradition and modernity, showcasing the nuanced interactions and changes while honoring the history that has shaped the neighborhood's identity.
